Brilliant minds throughout time have advised us through life. They say things like either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. They tell us to grow through life instead of just going through it. They say that the glow of one warm thought is worth more to them than any amount of money. They believe that two things define us; the patience we have when we have nothing and the attitude we have when we seem to have everything.
All of those quotes from said brilliant minds hold significance in my life. I personally hold wisdom and life experiences above all else. This is because with those two things, anything is possible. Smiling becomes possible in the saddest of moments. Laughter becomes possible when you forget how to smile. Growth becomes possible when time seems to stand still-when you are frozen from fear, disappointment, or failure. Fortunately for human beings, none of those things define who we are. It's what you do in those moments of weakness and vulnerability. It is how you proceed when you have failed. It is the conquering of your thoughts when you are consumed by negativity. It is all of those things that define your very being.
We all have failures, mistakes, and disappointments. Sometimes they are crippling and they make us forget what it means to succeed. Sometimes it makes us forget what it feels like to be happy, and it makes us wonder how we can proceed through life as functional human beings. My answer to this is that to move forward is to place one foot in front of the other. To be happy is to count your blessings rather than your hardships. To succeed is to hold optimism and enthusiasm close to your heart despite any failure.
We are human beings whose lives will be filled with inevitable loss and disappointments, but we are resilient creatures who are capable of discovering light in any darkness. It is a new day, there is new light, and there are doors that have yet to be opened.
It just takes one step.
My name is Morgan and I have a passion for writing, just as I have a passion for supporting those that suffer from various mental health concerns. I fully believe that each day is brand new and we can do with it as we wish. Mental illness is crippling, and you may lose the battle but that does not mean that you will lose the war. Keep fighting and know that you are not, and never will be, alone.
